Progressing

Things are chugging along slowly. Or are they running too quickly? I can't tell. Sometimes time flies by. The leaves turned, astounded us with their beauty and are now laying on the ground. All too soon for my taste. It's chilly outside and we've already had a bit of snow. Such is life in the foothills of the Rockies.

I am excited to take the wee one out for Halloween. That is always so much fun and of course, I love horror. So I love seeing all the decorations and awesome movies on tv. But for me, everyday is Halloween. And when Halloween is over, we will soon be finished with this election nightmare. God help us all.

I'm just bursting at the seams because I can't talk about this with anyone but since no one reads this anymore and no one is expecting a post, I can share here, right? We filled out all the paperwork and turned it in with our fee. It was a lot. Both of them. It turns out our counselor, the founder of the organization, is from our hometown. And her sister-in-law, who is much older than her, was friends with my mom. She and her husband (the counselor's brother) live on the same street I grew up on. I used to play with their daughter. When my mom died, I never saw the little girl or this family again. We've been exchanging emails all day talking about how we have this connection. It's so crazy, I mean, we are a long ways from home. What are the chances? Apparently my mom and her sis-in-law were like best friends. I hope I can meet her again. I know I'll cry because I just can't wait to ask her all about my mom. This is just incredible. Did my mom guide me to this decision? There was a reason I chose this agency. I didn't even seriously consider any others. I zoned in on this one and that was it. Mom? Was that you?

This was the right thing to do. It took us so long to get here. I wish I had listened to my gut before we experienced all the trauma 2-3 years ago. But I guess everything has to happen the way it does for all the pieces to fall into place. It sucks but in the end, it will be worth it. I can't wait to see how the rest of it plays out. I hope it goes well!
